Matching funders with verified students

SEP-Scholarship connects high-performing but financially disadvantaged students in public tertiary institutions across Africa with individuals, organisations, foundations, and other funders willing to invest in their education. Students present their educational needs, funders discover and support deserving candidates, and student information is verified directly with institutions through established communication channels.

Each student is funded for a one-time or continuous tuition award ranging from USD $100 to $200, paid directly to the student's SEPAfrica wallet or their institution.

Connect

Bringing deserving students and education funders together.

Verify

Promoting transparency by verifying student identity, enrollment, and academic information with institutions.

Support

Facilitating scholarships and educational funding where it can have meaningful impact.

Impact

Recognising achievements and measuring how educational support contributes to students, communities, and Africa's future.

Our goal is to move educational philanthropy from informal giving to a structured, transparent, technology-enabled ecosystem — where every contribution can be directed toward a deserving student and its impact can be better understood.

How it works

  1. i

    Apply

Student or funder signs up and shares their details.

  2. ii

    Verify

SEP Africa checks the student's studentship with their institution.

  3. iii

    Match & review

Students are matched against the funder's criteria and reviewed in Review Scholarships.

  4. iv

    Award & pay

Funder clicks Award and pays SEP Africa's service charge via Flutterwave.

  5. v

    Confirm

A Flutterwave webhook confirms the payment on the student's wallet.

  6. vi

    Credit

Once confirmed, the funder and student's profiles appear on the credit slider automatically.
